Chloe is a lovely girl: large, well-mannered, a joy to be around, and only slightly drooly. She was in for a spot of surgery, and she must have decided that that was just the impetus she needed to kickstart her diet (swimsuit season is just around the corner after all). After turning away her breakfast and dinner for a bit, Grace and Nicky had to take an active role in getting Chloe back to enjoying the finer things in life.

Chloe wasn’t too helpful at first, obviously, but she came around once the forbidden lure of cat food and dog treats were added to the mix. Once she remembered just how yummy dog food was, her appetite returned with a vengeance. Apparently she decided that a few curves are a good thing when lounging poolside.

The funny part about Chloe’s stay at the vet clinic is that Chloe is divine and absolutely, positively in love with Grace. Nicky took Chloe out for a walk, and even though Chloe was on a leash, once she spied Grace she broke into a trot and then a run with Nicky being drug along behind. Once in Grace’s aura, Chloe flipped on her back, tail wagging furiously until Grace gave her a tummy scratch. Ah, the bonds of true love. For the record, Nicky claims that their relationship is a bad romantic comedy, especially as running and Saint Bernards don’t really belong together. She said something about flying slobber and being drug as she headed to the laundry room to try and remove the worst of the canine offenses from her wardrobe.

So that is the love story of Chloe and Grace: may their bond never be broken.
